- Business development of Mobile Internet service in South Korea:
ROOT Inc. (ROOT, Office : Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President : Hiroshi Mano), Mobile Internet Service, Inc (MIS, Office : Shinjuku-ku Tokyo, President : Hiroshi Mano), Any One Wireless Co., Ltd. (AOW, Office : Seoul Korea, President : Jung Suk Hyun), and Hansol i Ventures Co., Ltd. (Hansol, Head Office : Seoul Korea, CEO : Yoon, Sang Don) have agreed starting examination of business development in four companies regarding the possibility of the mobile Internet service realization in the South Korean market.
ROOT supplies the self-developed wireless IP router to the market, and achieves satisfactory results, such as practical use by the local government to build information society, and service offer of the first-one-mile solution to broadband careers in Japan.
Furthermore, in April of this year, ROOT has established Mobile Internet Service Inc. with Broad networks Corp. and offers products and technical support to the realization of the mobile high-speed wireless system using technology IEEE802.11b.
In Korea, broadband Internet connection is mostly common in urban areas. With the recent approval of the 2.4 GHz band for commercial high-speed Internet services by Ministry of information & Communication of Korea (MIC) , the deployment for high-speed mobile networking has become more realistic.
In April this year, the joint management of ROOT and Usen Corp. established MIS. MIS is the world's first company to have established its own wireless LAN technologies based on the IEEE 802.11b, with connection speeds up to 11Mbps, including the capacity of hand-over to support users on the move and secure user authentication. Now, MIS has started field experiments involving public users in some area of Tokyo, such as Shibuya and Sangenjaya, etc. MIS's technologies and business strategies will gain wide acceptance in South Korea Market.
ROOT has capital tie-up with AOW in this June and already has the distribution to the South Korea market. Starting the business of Mobile Internet Service, ROOT intends to get into South Korean market and expect to establish its own brand in that market.
